Post Graduate Diploma in Management

The PGDM is a two-year full-time programme. IMI Kolkata follows a trimester system of six trimesters, each of 11 to 12 weeks. The academic calendar begins in early July. The admission page says the programme is approved by AICTE, accredited by NBA, accredited by AMBA, accredited by NAAC, and given MBA equivalence by the Association of Indian Universities.

PGDM admission, bulletin 2026-28

The application form is at https://admission.imi.edu/kolkata/. The admission page says the user creates an account, completes the form, and submits it with a non-refundable application processing fee. Incomplete forms may be rejected. After the final application and the fee are submitted, the candidate cannot edit the form.

Application processing fee: Rs 2250 for the Kolkata PGDM. An applicant who has already applied to IMI New Delhi may also apply to IMI Kolkata or IMI Bhubaneswar without an extra application fee. Payment is by credit card, debit card or net banking. This amount is the application fee, not the programme fee.

Eligibility

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 50 percent aggregate marks or equivalent, from a university recognised by the UGC or the Association of Indian Universities.
• The degree must cover at least three years after higher secondary schooling under the 10+2 system or equivalent.
• Candidates in the final year may apply if they meet the minimum eligibility by 30 September 2026.
• Fresh graduates and candidates with work experience may apply, from any discipline, including engineering, humanities, commerce, economics or medicine.

The admission page states that final selection may use a higher cut-off percentage than 50 percent, depending on the number of applicants.

Accepted exams

• CAT 2025, conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, on Sunday 30 November 2025.
• XAT 2026, conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur with XAMI, on Sunday 4 January 2026.
• CMAT 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency, on 25 January 2026.
• GMAT, for candidates with foreign nationality, taken not earlier than January 2021 and not later than January 2025.

Selection

Candidates are shortlisted on the entrance score, CAT, XAT, CMAT or GMAT, and on the academic record, and then called for a personal interview. Self-sponsored students receive placement assistance on a best-effort basis. Company-sponsored candidates must submit a sponsor letter at the interview stage and are not eligible for placement assistance. Foreign nationals are assessed under the process used at IMI New Delhi, must hold a valid foreign passport, and are not eligible for placement assistance.

Final stage

Only shortlisted candidates are called for individual assessment, which the page describes as a personal interview, in January or February 2026 (tentative). The page names past academic records, performance in that assessment, quality of work experience and extra-curricular activities as the core parts of selection. Admission offers use a composite score and are announced on the admission portal and on the IMI Kolkata website. The page asks for a postal address and an email address that stays valid up to 30 July 2026.

Withdrawal: If an applicant withdraws before the programme starts, the admission page says the fee collected is refunded after a deduction of Rs 1,000. If a student leaves after the course has started and the seat is not filled, only the refundable component is returned.

Schemes named on the institute site

The site lists a Tuition Fee Waiver link and an AICTE Scholarship Schemes link. The pages opened for this profile do not print a waiver percentage, a scholarship amount, or an eligibility mark for those schemes.

No scholarship rupee amount is stated here, because none was printed on those pages.

PGDM batch 2022-24

The placement overview is a letter from Dr Mohua Banerjee, Director, IMI Kolkata, inviting recruiters to the placement process for PGDM batch 2022-24. The letter says the PGDM has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation from 2016, that the programme is accredited by AMBA, that the institute is an active member of EFMD and AACSB, and that the Association of Indian Universities has given the programme MBA equivalence.

Placement assistance: Self-sponsored students receive placement assistance on a best-effort basis. Company-sponsored candidates and foreign nationals are not eligible for placement assistance.

The placement cell page says IMI Kolkata contacts recruiters through the year and runs career pathway sessions, industry workshops, resume building and LinkedIn sessions. It also names alumni interactions, resume reviews, group discussion workshops, mock personal interviews and company-specific sessions. That page does not print a salary, an offer count, or a placement percentage.

Eligibility minimum

The admission page requires at least 50 percent aggregate marks, or an equivalent CGPA, in graduation. It also says the final selection may use a higher cut-off percentage than 50 percent, depending on the number of applicants.

The pages opened do not print an official CAT, XAT, CMAT or GMAT cutoff score or percentile for IMI Kolkata.
